Taskbar overview
Taskbar is a Dock replacement that shows individual items for every application's window, similar to Microsoft Windows's taskbar. Taskbar makes multi-tasking much easier as it's possible to switch between windows with a single mouse click on window items that are all always visible, as opposed to the built-in Dock's requirement to right-click and select the desired window from an unintuitive text menu that contains the list of the application's windows. Other Taskbar features include window thumbnails, application launching using pins, workspace support, and window and app controls using the context menu.
What's new in version 1.6.1
- Taskbar now includes a start menu! (#31)
- The start menu release which has been in Beta since last year is now officially released.
- By default, the newly-added start menu replaces launchpad/spotlight, but they can be restored to be the default action by right click.
- Users updating from the Beta to this version will only see minor fixes.
- Custom transparency can now be set! (#42). Note: This is a change in the default appearance of Taskbar but the old appearance can be restored by setting transparency to the lowest value in settings.
- Version 1 will remain free until an extended date of 2026-09-19.
- Fixed bugs:
- Tasks are put at the end (all the way to the right) when their space changes or when entering/exiting fullscreen (#164). Note: This is a change in the default behavior of Taskbar but the old behavior can be restored in the advanced settings.
- Inconsistent icon size (#47).
- Taskbar gets shown at some point later after hiding it (#184).
- Restore option to show Taskbar only on main display (#186).
- Autodesk Fusion popups treated as separate windows (#214).

Finally a worthy dock replacement! As a Windows user, this is exactly what I've been looking for. I've spent weeks trying various other ones, but they're all broken and poorly implemented. I appreciate that your taskbar shows the task titles. I'm overjoyed that I can rearrange tasks. And the breadth of options is astounding (I can even adjust the task width!).

Love love love this app! As a long-time Windows users, this is soooo much better than the native dock (or any other of the multitude of dock replacements I've tried). Highly recommend!

I just love this app. After installing it this weekend, I couldn't wait to get back to work Monday morning and use it some more. And words can't express just how easy it is to use over that stupid Mac taskbar! Somehow the developer needs to figure out how to spread the word on this--it's too good to miss!

I have been using macOS for nearly three years. Before that, I primarily worked on Windows, with limited experience on Linux.
During my transition to macOS, I often found that my long-standing Windows habits made the experience less intuitive. Not being able to use familiar workflows and interface behaviors sometimes felt restrictive, as though I was unable to fully utilize the system in a way that felt natural to me.
After discovering Taskbar, that experience changed significantly. The tool allowed me to integrate elements of my previous workflow into macOS, which made the environment feel more comfortable and efficient. As a result, my daily usage has become smoother, more readable, and visually more organized.
There is one minor issue I have encountered: after using the app on a smaller screen for some time and then connecting to a larger external display, the bar on the second screen occasionally behaves inconsistently. It is not a major problem, but the transition between display setups could be smoother.
Overall, Taskbar has helped bridge the gap between operating systems for me, enabling a more personalized and productive macOS experience.

I've just switched to macOS from Windows due to my company replacing the old Windows laptop with a MBA and taskbar is the feature I'm missing the most, I'm lost without it. My search led me to a reddit thread which led me to this app. This app makes me feel at home almost immediately. It works as expected out of the box, even for a macOS noob like me! One thing remaining for me is the Start menu😄. I hope there's a way to still use version 1 for free after December as I use this MBA only for work and 25USD is kinda steep right now. I can live without version 2 planned features, but I can't imagine using the MBA without this app 😥

I tried the app, and it's the best app dock I’ve used! When you have multiple apps open, or multiple windows of the same app, this tool is amazing for switching between them and viewing tab information. It’s even better than the native Windows and macOS Stage Manager for handling multiple windows.
However, I do have one concern: how safe is this app when it comes to accessing or reviewing your files, or possibly monitoring your screen? Can someone share their opinion on this?
